CIPP Lining vs Pipe Bursting: A Fairfield Decision Guide visual reference

CIPP lining and pipe bursting are often presented as interchangeable no-dig products. They solve different pipe conditions.

Lining needs a usable path

A liner is installed inside the existing pipe. The host must be cleanable, accessible, and sufficiently open for the selected tube to reach the wall. The liner follows the route, including a belly.

Bursting replaces the pipe

A bursting head displaces the old material while pulling a new line. It can address collapse or deformation but normally requires launch and receiving pits. Bends, utility separation, and access can rule it out.

Compare complete scopes

Look beyond the method price. Compare preparation, pits, surface restoration, service connections, downtime, permits, and closing evidence.
